I could sense, I was up for something extraordinary ! But, it would be so life changing was a revelation.
In the heart of Johannesburg, amidst the bustling energy of Meetings Africa 2024, an unforgettable voyage began – one that would reveal the captivating allure of South Africa. I had no clue of the surprises in store when I was rushing through the my meetings with local travel suppliers during these 2 days exhibition.
As an hosted attendee, I had the privilege of joining a curated list of 10 fellow travel professionals on a hosted 5-day familiarization trip to Mpumalanga, courtesy of South African Tourism. Little did I know then, that this journey would not only exceed my expectations but also fire me up to share my experience in a write up. For some time, the busy schedule had denied me the chance to write and South Africa Sojourn was a very good reason to put my fingers back on the keyboard.
The Safari expedition, a quintessential African experience, where we were greeted by the majestic presence of the - lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and Impala- “The McDonalds of the Bush” because they are identified easily by the large arched “M” on their bottom, and they are an abundant “fast food” for predators. The thrill of encountering these magnificent creatures so close in their natural habitat was unparalleled. The phone camera could not have enough of it till the batteries and storage space went kaput. Oh, how much I missed my DSLR.
The Evening drive ended with a mesmerizing Bush dinner nestled within the confines of Kruger National Park. Under the vast expanse of the African sky, surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness, we indulged in delectable barbeque, forging unforgettable memories under the stars. I look forward to replicating this experience soon for our clients, as it was so different and out of the world. Meet Where the Kings Meet !
The adrenaline rush, the next day, as we navigated the rapids of the Sabie River through exhilarating rafting adventure on a 2 people boat. The pristine waters, lush landscapes and the adrenaline-fueled escapade upped the Mpumalanga's natural splendour.
Amidst panoramic drive that showcased Mpumalanga's breath-taking vistas, from the iconic Blyde River Canyon to the cascading water falls, it became evident why South Africa is hailed as a land of unparalleled beauty and diversity. Our trip that day ended with a beautiful Sunset at a resort in Graskop. From zip-lining through the lush canopy to swinging thru the sheer cliffs, the adventure junkies in the group made me live the excitement and thrills.
South Africa, with its rich tapestry of cultures, landscapes, and experiences was a true stimulus which transcended expectations and made me embrace the spirit of exploration.
As a travel professional, I am inspired to show South Africa to my fellow Indian travelers. The country's unparalleled offerings, ranging from exhilarating adventures, immersive cultural experiences and the warm hospitality, present so many opportunities for unforgettable incentive trips.
To sum it up, my journey through South Africa was not just a travel experience but a transformative odyssey, lived along with some beautiful friends, that opened my eyes to the boundless wonders of this enchanting land.
